Memory Verse (Week 19)

Today's Memory Verse has been one of my challenges as a younger Christian.
John 15: 4-5
"Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit: apart from me you can do nothing"
From a very young age I have striven to become independent. I wanted to do everything on my own and for the most part I was. As a teenager, I started to get good at the things I really put my mind to and I started to feel very confident in myself. Once I received the Lord as my personal Lord and Savior, depending on somebody other than me proved to be more than difficult. As I started to mature (although I still have a long way to go), I can see the need for my dependence on God. I depend on him to be the source of my knowledge, my strength and my guidance to where I should go.
Just like a branch depends on the main vine for food and nutrients, we should also depend on our God, the Provider, for all our needs. Who do you depend on? Where do you draw your source of strength from? Is it from another branch, disconnected from the main vine? Trust in the Him and you will bear more fruit than if you were to go alone.
