Motherly Instruction at it's best

Yesterday's Mother's Day message was a good one. Normally, we hear about messages of Mary, or of Sarah or even Eve. Mother's that stick out and who are easily recognized. This Sunday, Pastor Ed talked about Eunice. Who?

Eunice was the mother of Timothy. Timothy was the disciple who journeyed with Paul. What made Eunice so special? For starters she was a Jewish Christian. A believer of Jewish descent. To make matters more complicated she married a non-believing Greek man. With history like that, it is a wonder that she still managed to mother a faithful and devoted Christian Disciple.

We see from 2 Timothy 3 how Paul comments on Timothy's upbringing and how it played a crucial role in who Timothy is at that time.
But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
We are told that what we do today will echo in the future. How we rear our children will dictate how our future generation will lead the country.

I salute all mothers out there who, regardless of what is going on in their life, continue to raise their child learning God, and ensuring that they grow up guided by the Lord.
